Causes that Inspire Creative Development

CareFusion, a customer of Axeda, asked if we could build an application that tracks CareFusion's team as they take part in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  I LOVE building apps, so it was a pleasure to say "sure". 

In just a week, I developed the Flash-based track-and-trace application using an Enfora device that was already integrated with the Axeda Platform.  A Carefusion team member (yes, a human as a connected product) will carry an Enfora wireless tracking device during their run that sends latitude/longitude data to the Axeda Platform every 100 feet. The Flash UI gets the runner’s current location using the Axeda Platform Web Services API.

I chose Flash to build the UI, and then selected the sources to "mash up" into the final UI. Knowing that social media was a key aspect of any awareness effort, Twitter integration was an absolute requirement too. That, plus a weather widget would provide a great overview of the run. With a few quick Groovy scripts, I had set up the geofences and Twitter updates, and you can see the finished result on-line at any time.
