GE Ecomagination Challenge Idea Discussion

It's no secret that today's energy management challenges are getting lots of attention, and the smart grid initiative
is one of the cornerstones of meeting those challenges. Recently, GE has
decided to
sponser a $200 million challenge to business and entrepreneurs to help
spark innovation and traction in this area. Their Ecomagination Challenge
let's anyone submit an idea for on how to build the next-generation, smart
energy grid.

Axeda's own Troy Collinsworth has entered the fray and submitted an idea for reducing
energy waste through
wireless monitoring
. Anyone who frequent's the Axeda Developer
Connection knows the incredible richness of features that an Axeda-based M2M
application
can provide for this purpose. It's a great submission for the challenge,
and could really use you vote! Be sure to register with the Ecomagination
Challenge
site and vote for Troy's idea.

Here's Troy's idea summary:

"Reduce significant energy waste by monitoring and alerting us to
inefficient compressors. Cooling compressors in air-conditioners,
refrigerators, cars, dehumidifiers, etc. are the most common high energy
appliances. They get dirty, lose freon, and efficiency. They then run
excessively while wasting energy until they stop performing and are
noticed."

How would you use the Axeda Platform to bring this idea, or
your own idea, to light?
