Welcome Axeda ServiceLink Users

If you're using Axeda ServiceLink, this site is full of information that shows you how to extend the reach of your solution.

Axeda ServiceLink is a set of remote service applications that run on the Axeda Platform. All the capabilities in the Axeda Platform are built into the Axeda ServiceLink applications. And there's a long list of capabilities!

The Axeda Platform is designed to take advantage of the Cloud services delivery model, while giving you the flexibility to create customized logic and business integrations. Here are some of the features you can explore using the Axeda Platform in the Developer Connection:

  • Condition monitoring takes all the input variables from an Axeda Agent and applies Expression Rules and State Machines to detect conditions that are important to you. The power of Expression Rules enables you to apply logic to the data and events coming from your equipment. When an alarm condition is detected, rules take action by sending a notification or creating a service request in your CRM system.
  • Uploaded files are always visible on the dashboard for service technicians to view. Expression Rules can also trigger on a file upload to run logic. For example, an uploaded file might be FTP'd to another server to process, or a Groovy script may parse the file to extract data or look for patterns. If the file upload will take a long time, it might notify someone when it's recieved.

The Get Started section steps through creating inputs using the Axeda Simulator. That's an easy way to provide inputs without worrying about communication. But your Axeda Agent can also be connected to the Developer Connection's server if you want to use the features here with your equipment. When you registered at this site, we created a login to the platform, as well as a model and asset. The model name is based on the email address that you used, so bob@acme.com would have a model named bob_acme_com_model. You need to use the Axeda Builder to make a project with the model name for your login. You can follow the Platform Access button to check the model. The Device Serial Number is up to you. Once you have a project, point the Axeda Agent to "dev6.axeda.com" with SSL disabled (to avoid certificate errors).

When your agent starts, it will send its data items, alarms, and files. When you click the Platform Access button, you are taken to the Service page -- the place to search for assets by model, asset name, organization, or condition.

There you select your asset to get to its dashboard page.

The Asset Dashboard shows your asset and its current state, with readings, alarms, a map of its location, and uploaded files. This page is typically used by service technicians to remotely diagnose and service equipment. This dashboard is simplified to show an uncluttered view.

The Introduction to Axeda Platform will guide you through the features.
