AT&T Connection Kit, Part 1 of 4: Introduction
|
This is Part-1 of a 4-part tutorial that illustrates how to configure the AT&T Connection Kit for Application Developers to communicate with the Axeda Platform. This tutorial assumes that you have received the AT&T Enabled kit from M2M.com using the Ericsson module set and have successfully completed the AT&T/Ericsson tutorial to assure that the reference device is correctly configured and installed on your PC. Additional parts of this tutorial include
The Axeda Platform enables you to build enterprise M2M applications for connected products. With the Axeda Platform, you can focus on applications -- not plumbing -- while easily deploying your solutions from the cloud with these key features: |
- Condition Monitoring - Collect and analyze data and notify people or systems when action is required.
- Content Management - Send files to and from products with guaranteed delivery for on-the-fly software and content updates.
- Location-Based Services - Track and trace product location and use geofences for rules based on exiting or entering an area.
- Business Rules - Create business logic to orchestrate business processes without programming.
- Secure Communication - Cellular, satellite, and Internet communication optimized for minimum transmission costs.
- Enterprise System Integration - Connect real-time information with business systems using standards-based Web Services and message queues.
The purpose of this demonstration is to provide you with some hands-on exposure to the core elements of an M2M application. This experience (typically about 15 minutes) has been designed to showcase the basic concepts of the Axeda Platform including:
- Sending data to the Axeda Platform
- Reacting to Events
- Integrating with other cloud services
Requirements
To complete this Axeda and AT&T M2M Developer Kit Getting Started experience you must have an AT&T Connection Kit with the Ericsson modules. Also, because you will be accessing the Axeda Platform, you must be registered and logged-in in order to complete this experience. Simply return to this page after registering and/or logging in. You do not need to launch the platform at this time.
What to Expect
During this tutorial you will be interacting with three different web applications in different browser windows or tabs. You'll want to keep this window open to follow along in the tutorial. You will also be:
- Launching and exploring the Axeda and AT&T Get Started sample application
- Using your AT&T Connection Kit to send both real and simulated data
- Directly interacting with the Axeda Platform
As you walk through this tutorial you will be reviewing changes to a sample application based on your interactions with the AT&T Connection Kit and the Platform. So, if you are registered and logged in, let's begin by exploring the sample application!
